Kanye West’s star-studded runway show was the place to be last night. It was as if New York City had been transported to Paris for one crazy party.

The show was held in a blackened out warehouse that felt more like a Kanye concert than a traditional runway show, but nobody was expecting anything less. Classical music played overhead as celebrities including Common, P-Diddy, and Mos Def took their seats. Both fashion icons and musicians waited eagerly to see how far Kanye had developed since his debut collection last season.

With a bright flash, the show began, with electronic beats pumping through the dialed in sound system. Models dressed in black leather with black fur accents began sashaying down an epically long runway, often clutching backpacks that matched their outfits. Occasionally Kanye incorporated some beige, white, and champagne, but for the most part he stuck with black, giving the wardrobe a definite street edge.

A loud roar surprised the audience during the final walk, as an unseen race track surrounding the room lit up with go-cart speedsters, signaling the start of a raucous after party. Performances from the likes of New York’s Azealia Banks, Big Sean, Waka Flocka, and A-Trax electrified the partygoers. It was a party made for anyone into hip hop, fashion, and getting down and dirty. That is, anyone with access.
