BEAUTY NOTES: PETER SOM'S PASTEL SIRENS
What’s chic, sweet and pastel all over? Peter Som’s beauty look for his Spring 2013 show. Estee Lauder’s creative director Tom Pecheux created a custom palette with MAC cosmetics that harkened back to "Valley of the Dolls," but a touch mussed up for the modern suburbs-meets-city girl. To maintain that effortlessly dewy face, MAC artists applied Mineralize Charged Water Moisture Gel, then face and body foundation and peep and prime transparent powder.
The models eyes matched Som’s frilly, floral prints. First, they were speckled with Sunshine powder on the lid (applied with a finger for a mussed up approach), then, a paint stick in various hues of pastel blues, greens and oranges was applied with the finger to achieve an ombre effect. Eyebrows were brushed up at the end to keep Som’s ladies just a little rock ‘n’ roll. A soft coat of MAC Mineralize lipstick in MAC’s Luxe Natural finished off the look.
Eugene Souleiman for Wella Professionals created a unique, streaky effect on hair reminiscent of our youthful Manic Panic days, with pieces soaked in colorful shades by Aura Friedman for Wella and finished off with matching pastel hair netting.
