Lexus Fashion Eco Challenge WINNERS ANNOUNCED
The Milk Gallery played host to the launch of the MADE & Lexus Fashion Eco Challenge last night, announcing the winners to a room filled with photos made by photographer Sam Haskins. The gallery was packed with people sipping Belvedere cocktails and discussing the highs of MADE Fashion Week thus far.
Eye-catching black and white prints hanging throughout the room and for those unfamiliar with his work, Sam Haskins (1926-2009) has come to be recognized as one of the most influential post war 20th century photographers.
“His photographs are, simply put, beautiful,” explains NYU Professor Song Chong. “He was not just a creative photographer working primarily with the female figure: he was a photographer of the highest order, one whose enigmatic approach to process and design informed the entire body of his work.”
Pamela Love, Victoria Bartlett and Melissa Joy Manning were named winners of the challenge due to their ongoing effort to create sustainable wear and presented with check for $25k each. MADE and Lexus aspire to create viable living through a hybrid, where fashion becomes ecologically conscious. Their collaboration is helping lead the way to the future, and if last night was any indication, the future will be fun, fashionable and ultimately renewable.
