LOUISE GOLDIN, PEACOCK BLUES AND METALLIC MUSE
Deconstruct to reconstruct. British designer Louise Goldin was the final designer to show at MADE Fashion Week before the greatest trade show on earth prepares to board flights to London fashion week right after Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein show today.
Peacock blue, tan, gold and black were the main color swatches that Goldin played with throughout the twenty-two piece collection that was made nearly entirely of streamlined dresses or pencil skirt ensembles. Panels of material were placed over shoulders, arched above midriff’s and hips. Sheer peep-holes and giant dog-tooth print were two elements, as was metallic leather, often in copper tone.
Friend and past colleague Kanye West watched the show with his lady Kim Kardashian but the audience in the show comprised mainly of editors and fashion journalists meaning that Goldin continues to hold currency amongst gimlet-eyed professionals jotting notes into their moleskins to file onto respected outlets.
