Art Basel: Close Up

Notice how when you are  really enamored by a painting, you can't help but get as close as possible to it so you can fine comb the details? As if studying the strokes and lines in the paint will somehow reveal a secret pattern that, once decipherd, will give you the ability to create the same amazing works of art. Of course, that could just be me.

For some, studying the paintings close up can put an image in their mind of the painter creating the painting in his studio. Examining brush strokes is a police officer studying finger prints on the scene of a crime, or a scientist going deep into a blood cell with his microscope. Some people just like to get as close as possible to the things that interest them.
