Milk Made Mixtape: Stretch Armstrong - New York Sh!t
The legendary downtown DJ Stretch Armstrong has helped countless up-and-coming artists get their music into the ears of Stretch's devout fan base. Now, to help spread the word about tomorrow night's event Sandy Night Out, a benefit party to help raise money for the victims of Hurricane Sandy held at Santos, Stretch was cool enough to make Milk Made it's very own Mixtape.
The tape is called "New York Sh!t", and just as expected it is chalked full of ballads boasting the city that never sleeps. James Brown's "Down and Out in New York City" plays right into Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind" and later in the mix Stretch blends Lou Reed singing "Walk on the Wild Side" straight into Tom Browne's funky ass classic "Funkin' for Jamaica", letting the listeners flow from one New York experience to another like they were being driven around in the back of a cab through all five boroughs of the city.
So put on your headphones, flip your hoodie up, grab a slice of cheese pizza, head down into the dirty guts of your subway stop and let this mixtape be the soundtrack to your journey home after a long day of work. It'll remind you exactly why you keep struggling through the hard times so that you can keep on keepin' on in the greatest city on the planet.
If you would like to attend the Sandy Night Out event tomorrow night, simply go to www.sandynightout.eventbrite.com and purchase tickets. All proceeds will go to helping the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
