Marc Jacobs 4.0!
After at least three quiet seasons that strayed from celebrities, excessive flashbulbs, and lavish after-parties, Marc Jacobs changed his outlook on those fine things in life with his Fall 2011 showing. An army of models marched around mirrored floors of the Lexington Armory in cellophane pencil skirts, sequined numbers, daring Stephen Jones berets, and vinyl boots. Marilyn Manson’s "The Beautiful People" played in the background while front row guests like Sofia Coppola, Karen Elson, Martha Stewart, Whoopi Goldberg, and Fergie snapped away with joy. “I’ve known Marc for so many years,” said Fergie. “His energy is very contagious. It must be because we’re both Aries.”
Minutes after the show ended, guests like Michael Pitt, Bryan Boy (who looked like a Margiela Eskimo last night), and Lorenzo Martone got rides to Pier 61 where Jacobs hosted an intimate dinner and the mini-concert by the Scissor Sisters. Possibly due to the fact that it coincided with Valentine’s Day, Marc was inspired to pose with Leighton Meester backstage after the show. “If you are ever in doubt of how to spend your Valentine’s Day,” noted Meester, “Marc is always a good bet. I don’t think he ever disappoints.”
