AZTECS, TIGERS AND TARTAN: JEREMY SCOTT'S GOOGLE+ HANGOUT
These images, from the look-book, give us a close-up on how Scott has chosen tartan, tigers, Aztec eagles and mystical, totem symbolism as inspiration. Add to that billiard balls and aliens you have another classic, collectible collection by the LA native who always manages to mix high fashion with zeitgeisty popular culture.
Having worked with Adidas Originals since 2003, it’s arguable that it’s Scott’s sportswear designs rather than his runway collections that have put him onto the map as an innovator because he’s an artist that has managed to take a collaboration with a multi-national company to unchartered heights. A level only rivaled by interior designer Philippe Starck. "Fashion is about connection, culture, news, life, friends,’ said Scott speaking live on the MADE fashion week Google+ hangout.
Each season Scott produces fearless, often wacky yet increasingly adored designs. His aesthetic may be fun, his call to street wear fans to embrace sartorial freedom may be ahead of its time but his message grows stronger each season as the growing numbers of new fans from Korea to Brazil continue to show. "I always wanted to be a part of people’s lives," continued Scott, "I’m very lucky and want to bring happiness." He sure does.
