WELCOME TO PARIS: MADE OPENS GRAND FINALE OF FASHION MONTH
Last season MADE began it’s Paris adventure of supporting young and upcoming designers including Anthony Vaccarello, Gareth Pugh, Julien David and Olympia LeTan.
Unforgettable moments included Anja Rubik and Karlie Kloss killing the runway at Vaccarello in evening dresses slashed deep into the thigh (the navel, even?!) in a post-modern building that hands down had to be the longest runway of the entire spring-summer 13 season.
At Olympia LeTan, the world’s press and buyers were invited to an old Parisian theatre and treated to an onstage show of models miming to doo-wop classics and 60s girl group hits, which culminated in Ronnie Spector herself walking onstage and singing, ‘Be My Baby’ – unforgettable.
This was the season where NY Times fashion critic, Cathy Horyn and designer of Saint Laurent Paris, Hedi Slimane duelled on twitter. Temperatures hit boiling and the entire fashion industry gasped when Slimane released his own response to Horyn entitled ‘My Own Times’ that called Horyn "provincial" and derided her adoration for Raf Simons. Delicious.
Finally, MADE hosted a dinner at Les Deux Magots next door to Café Flor on the Left Bank where Jenné Lomardo gave the cutest and warmest welcoming speech to all the fashion designers, Milk family and new Milk family members.
This season, autumn-winter 2013, MADE has placed each of its 12 designers inside the grand Hotel Salomon De Rothschild that was built and completed 1872 – 1878. This two-floored building was the residence of Rothschild’s widow who died in 1922.
The MADE calendar of shows can always be found on the front page of Milkmade.com and is complemented, again, by Radio Garage that will be hosting shows daily from 3pm CET each day on the site.
