This Friday, May 17 on "bike-to-work day", Brooklyn boutique Swords-Smith is inviting people to pedal over from 6 to 9 p.m. to share a beer from Newburgh Brewing Company with Titania Inglis, winner of an Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Style Stars award for sustainable design. The local designer will be on hand to talk about her sustainable label and show off her latest collection. Selected styles will be available up to 50% off and Inglis is gifting every customer with a natural leather iPhone case.

The shop, located at 98C South 4th Street between Bedford and Berry, is co-owned by husband and wife team Briana Swords (formerly a womenswear designer for Levi Strauss) and Ryan Smith (a graphic designer with credits in Vogue). Local carpenter Ryan Crozier designed the skylight space.

Founded on a rejection of fast fashion and a mission to support emerging designers, Swords-Smith focuses on quality, craftsmanship and the backstory of the items they carry. Boutique director Nicole Lane Fulmer says they carry about 50 designers that fit with their ethos, including Feral Childe, Common People, 18 Waits and jewelry line K/LLER Collection.

Much like the store’s mission, Inglis’ commitment to sustainable design extends beyond the production process. While embracing an eco label has its challenges, Inglis has met them head on. Her minimalist, architectural designs are not only ethically produced, but the durability and versatility of the pieces means they’ll stay in your wardrobe for years.

Don’t miss this chance to get your hands on some of Inglis’ skillfully crafted pieces, many of the styles will be in store this weekend only.
