Made Hangout: Fashion & Food

Let’s face it, we all are culprits of indulging in our guilty pleasures every once in a while. On July 31, 2013, at 9:00 p.m., Milk Made invites you to join its #MADEhangout : Late Night Guilty Pleasures with Pippa Lord of Sous Style & model Naomi Shimada along with special guests including Food Personality Phoebe Lapine, Paper Magazine’s Mickey Boardman, The Smile NYC’s Executive Chef and Laura Ellner of On The Racks.

Pippa and Naomi will go LIVE from Milk Studios to discuss the common guilty pleasure of late-night snacking. You will not want to miss out on this hangout because Pippa and Phoebe Lapine will be sharing easy-to-prepare recipes to satisfy those “desperate” late-night cravings. These snacks are potentially great to share with your significant other because who wants to feel extra guilty for eating all those snacks alone?

Want to cook along with Pippa and Naomi? Here’s the ingredients you’ll need for each recipe.

Southern Grilled Cheese

1.Tbsp. butter

2.Slices rustic bread

3.Thick slices high-quality pre-cooked bacon

3.Thin slices Granny Smith apple

2.Tbsp. Duke’s mayonnaise (optional)

2.Oz. Swiss cheese or Gouda, thinly sliced

Directions

  1. Take your cheese out of the refrigerator an hour ahead of time. It will melt more evenly that way. And use butter at room temperature.

  2. Preheat the oven to 350.

  3. Preheat an iron skillet over medium heat.

  4. Assemble the sandwich on a plate. Butter the outside of the bread and place the non-cheese ingredients—bacon & apple between 2 slices of cheese to keep the bread from sliding off.

  5. Add 1/3 tablespoon of the butter to the skillet and cook to brown.

  6. Lay the sandwich in the pan. You’re looking for a really crusty dark brown on this first side. This usually takes 1 1/2 minutes.

  7. Flip, then cook for an additional 30 to 45 seconds.

  8. Spread the remaining butter on the just-browned side, transfer the sandwich to a baking sheet, and place in the oven for a few minutes—how long you keep it in depends on how melty you like your cheese.

Deluxe Popcorn

1.Get a brown paper bag

2.Add a 1/2 cup scoop of bulk popcorn kernels to your brown paper bag.

3.Fold over bag twice.

4.Stick the popcorn bag into your microwave. I set mine for 3 minutes on high.

5.Pour into bowl and add topping of choice:

Mexican: Add chili powder, hot sauce, and salt.

Kiss My Breath: Shake in onion powder and garlic powder

Cheese Please: Mix in Parmesan cheese with a little salt.

Sweet Tooth: A dash of cinnamon, a sprinkle of sugar, and a topper of honey. Now that’s money.

Classic: A shake of salt with a pat of butter.

3.Fudge sauce
