RUNWAY REVIEW: PETER SOM SS14
This season’s Peter Som woman is a downtown city girl on the run to a surfer town. She is laid-back in her all-white look with cady slouch pants and matching satin jeans jacket; yet still elevated and always chic, as she sports a silk crepe halter dress in a bright coral. With a mixture of coral, blues, white looks with a hint of black, the collection has an oceanic element to it mixed in with relaxed sophistication.
The surfer meets urban chic allure is pretty and polished but also natural, with barely any make-up, and slightly unkempt hair elevated in a well-kept bun. The Peter Som silhouette mixes water-esque and floral prints, with flows of all type (sateens, silk crepe, silk twill…) combined with structured neoprene, chambray shirts and graphic tweed pieces; and dons a real girl on the street attitude with sophisticated elegance. As she matches black and white stripes, crop tops and cotton floral skirts, she has a playful take on proportions, and embodies the designer’s timeless femininity. The show closed with an all white eyelet bra-top dress, because who doesn’t love a beautiful ethereal dress matched with nice Louboutin flats ?
