SPORTY ANDROGYNY AT JONATHAN SIMKHAI
In one of the spacious and bright studios of the Milk building’s 8th floor, the crowd gathered to observe the statue-esque models that stood against the walls on elevated mini-podiums presenting the new Jonathan Simkhai collection. It was sporty, sexy and chaotic but classic, with nods to the past in patchwork leather dresses and boxy-boy inspired jackets.
The androgynous feeling—short boyish hair, sporty but chic—of the still and tall women stayed true to the brand in a refined manner. The other models had long slick hair delicately positioned behind their ears.
Some of the silhouettes had dresses with cut-out stomach exposure and fell right below the knee, others were full sweatshirt looks, or leather patchwork tees matched with sport shorts. The clothes were feminine, simplistic and inspired by the clash between mods and rockers at Brighton Beach in the ‘60s.
