Eager for a peek at the Public School Spring 14 presentation, a pair of New York Knicks arrived at Milk Studios on Sunday afternoon. After Tyson Chandler and J.R. Smith rode up to the penthouse, we coaxed the duo into sharing their thoughts about the sporty new menswear collection from the CFDA Award-winning label. Here’s the tale of the tape on two of New York’s most celebrated ballers.

Birthplace: Hanford, CA
Age: 30
Height and Weight: 7-1, 235 lbs
Position: Center

Knicks Highlight: As a ferocious rebounder, a looming presence in the paint and an explosive finisher off pick-and-roll lobs, Chandler was named the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2012 and was a member of the All-Star team last season.

Fashion Statements: A frequent attendee of runways shows during Fashion Week—he was spotted last night at the Alexander Wang after party, too–Chandler was named one of Vanity Fair’s best-dressed basketball players. His look features fedoras, sheer shirts, lots of black and the occasional cape.

Hot Take on the Public School Spring 14 Collection: I love it. He has given a lot of unique looks. One of my favorite pieces of the collection is the jean short jacket. I love the layering effect of some of the sweaters as well.

Birthplace: Freehold, NJ
Age: 28
Height and Weight: 6-6, 220
Position: Shooting Guard

Knicks Highlight: Known for supplying instant offense off the bench, the unrepentant gunner was named the NBA’s 6th Man of the Year last season after notching a career-high 18 points a game.

Fashion Statements: Although the heavily-tatted Smith has dabbled with questionable choices such as a red Mohawk, he’s also evolved into a Comme des Garcons aficionado with increasingly cosmopolitan taste. Still, stunting is a hard-to-break habit: In August, he arrived at the meatpacking restaurant Catch in a $450,000 armored Terradyne Gurkha F5 (after tabloids went nutso with the story, he denied having purchased the vehicle).

Hot Take on the Public School Spring 14 Collection: Great show. Unbelievable. I love Public School two-pieces. I love the hoody and the tuxedo kind-of-sweatpants. It’s just a great look.
