AZEDE JEAN-PIERRE @ THE STANDARD, HIGH LINE
Azede Jean-Pierre’s new SS14 collection presented today on the third floor of The Standard, High Line, was cheerful, imaginative and much more colorful than previous ones (with just one black look!). The overall theme of it stemmed from “the idea of playing God and becoming Mother Nature.” The designer developed and designed with nature’s wild aesthetic, keeping things as logical and controlled as nature does with functionality.
This season, Azede’s signature cut evolved yet again, and there was a lot of experimenting with embroidery, and even more so with prints. So as not to compete with those prints’ density and saturation, the hair and make-up was quite minimal, with sleek and tight held-up buns and side partings. “Nature is a constant inspiration for me and this season the focus is on the smaller majority; with a slightly humorous approach to insects, bugs, deep sea animals and their role on this planet,” the designer told us.
