Runway Review: Yang Li SS14

Yang Li created a deeply emotional, teenage dream for his Spring – Summer 2014 collection. As the male and female models effortlessly walked down the runway in Vans, their tragically sad facial expressions bore cheeks that glistened with permanent tears. The dramatic set up offered the perfect complement to Li’s strong, idyllic collection. Many of the womenswear looks drew military inspiration with a feminine interpretation: oversized button ups paired with loose trousers, military olives and tans accenting Li’s signature maxi skirts and dresses. Leather in light hues was consistently used to amp the collection in both womenswear and menswear. Clean, sleek and slouchy were the impeccable combination that made up Li’s menswear. Overall, the catwalk created an air of streetwear cool juxtaposed with romantic silhouettes. Consistency throughout the truly stunning SS 14 collection assures that Yang Li has a bright future in Paris.
