It Came From the Internet: Ville Kallio

Ville Kallio is an unconventional, caffeine addict who makes great internet art. We dig his weird GIFs and drawings he dreams up all the way from Helsinki, Finland. Get to know his creative process and what site he’d like to see survive a massive internet malfunction.

Who or what are you?

I am a person called Ville Kallio who currently lives in Helsinki, Finland. I spend my time drawing things.

How do you describe your artwork?

My work is a collection of lines and bright colors haphazardly thrown together. To me it is mostly a visual thing and I don’t really have any philosophy or idea behind it. Humor is important to me.

Can you briefly describe your creative process?

I drink a lot of coffee and then see if I can make something. Usually bad ideas turn out the best, though it’s probably a matter of having lower expectations. I change things up a lot as I get bored easily.

Whose art are you digging right now?

Right now some of the people I semi-actively follow are Mason Lindroth, Dominic Kesterton, John F. Malta, Chris Harnan, badblueprints and Lomé iench.

In what state is your artwork best viewed in?

I don’t know about best but I only really view it on the computer screen myself.

What are you most afraid of?

Small dogs.

If the Internet went down forever except for one website, which one would you save?
