Alexander Wang Surfboards
August is well on its way and not be a buzz-kill or anything, but the beach frolicking, no jacket weather days will be gone before we know it. It doesn’t help that MADE favorite Alexander Wang has just released a collaboration with Australian surfboard maker pros Haydenshapes to create the sickest boards we’ve ever seen, what with their marble print and their ‘Hypto Crypto’ model design (as if we needed another reason to spend our days in the water).
Sadly, the boards aren’t for sale, rather, they’re hanging in an installation at Wang’s SoHo Flagship store called ‘The Summer Cage Installation’ where they’re found suspended from a cage wall in front of a sand sculpted curving black wave which features other pieces like shoes and purses. The collaboration also boasts awesome photos and a super cool video campaign in which the boards are uncovered from the waves while the Jaws song eerily booms. The impressive marble pattern was printed digitally on silk, and while it’s a bummer that we can’t get our hands on the AW ones, Hayndeshapes are offering a limited edition release of marble boards. Now all we have to do is chase the endless summer.
