Kate Moss' Breast Becomes Glassware
Legend has it that the original champagne coupe was modeled after Marie Antoinette’s “let-them-eat-cake” breasts and although we won’t know for sure if this is fact or fiction we like to accept it as the best fun fact evaaah. Regardless, we do know one thing for sure, and that is that modern day queen Kate Moss (sorry Kate Middleton) will be filling in for the beheaded Queen of France – literally. London restaurant 34 and artist Jane McAdam Freud have created a champagne coupe modeled after Moss’ left breast in celebration of her 25 years working in the fashion industry.
Said Moss, “I was excited to participate in this project, what an honour to be alongside Marie Antoinette – she was a very intriguing and mischievous character. Champagne is always associated with celebration and happy occasions and I had fun creating this beautiful coupe.” The coupes will launch in October and will be available at 34 and its sister restaurants, The Ivy, Daphne’s, and Scott’s. Like the most interesting man in the world would say, “I don’t always drink champagne but when I do, I drink out of Kate Moss’ boob coupe.”
