Intel and OC to Premiere Tech Bracelet at NYFW
Because the tech world of Her is becoming more of a reality every day, Opening Ceremony and Intel have teamed up to create a wearable tech bracelet. The bracelet is called MICA, which stands for My Intelligent Communication Accessory, and it’s still relatively unclear as to what the function of it is. Aysegul Ildeniz, vice president and general manager for Business Development and Strategy, New Devices Group at Intel, hinted that “it will allow you to communicate with your friends.”
And it sure is pretty. The bracelet, which comes in two versions and will cost less than $1,000, includes a curved touchscreen on one side and is embellished with semiprecious stones and snakeskin on the other, so even though we might have no idea why we want it (seriously, what does it do?) we do know that we want it.
While the bracelet won’t make its debut until Opening Ceremony’s NYFW show on Sunday and won’t be available for purchase until December, the campaign photos have just been unveiled, and they’re lovely—shot by Collier Schorr and featuring Kristen Owen and our girl Ajak Deng. First step wearable tech; next step full-on relationships with our operating systems.
