Miley's Art for Jeremy Scott
Miley Cyrus has been busy gearing up for Jeremy Scott’s MADE Fashion Week SS15 show tomorrow afternoon. The singer and professional twerker is adding sculptor to her repertoire, crafting a series of wearable DIY-inspired art that will be displayed alongside Scott’s collection. Offering previews through her Instagram as well as self-promoting her craft (nipple tassels and pill popper specs at the Wang after party, anyone?), Miley also spoke to V Magazine, with whom she shared the intention of her new craft and praised Scott, saying, “Jeremy brought a lot of peace and self worth to me because even though to some people, it was just me gluing some things together, to me, it made me not a fucking pop star dumbass. And that’s my goal in my life: to not die a pop pop dumb dumb. I can’t. I will freak out. I just wanted to give myself something I can work at, and even now, if I had more time and I wasn’t on tour, I know I could outdo any of this because I’ve grown while doing it.”
Miley attests her new work to having had a hard time during the first half of the year (she was in the hospital for a severe allergic reaction as well as having her dog Floyd pass away), and says, “Everything just kept shitting on me and shitting on me. So then I started taking all of those shit things and making them good, and being like, I’m using it. My brother and my friends all said that’s what they felt I was doing. So, that’s how I started making art. I had a bunch of fucking junk and shit, and so instead of letting it be junk and shit, I turned it into something that made me happy.” The pieces definitely look happy – neon raver beads, teddy bears, even a vibrator…all things that seem metaphorical towards Miley’s life since she “came out” as the real Miley Cyrus (the one who has become an icon of modern sexual liberty, new-wave feminism, and a dedicated weed lover).
We’re beyond excited for the unveiling tomorrow, and knowing both Miley and J Scott we can expect that even though a few details have been revealed, we’re still not getting the biggest picture. So what can we expect? Two words: the unexpected.
