First Look at Sophie Theallet

Sophie Theallet’s SS15 show began with a resounding reggae call and once the lights came on, true to form, the musical choice made sense. The collection run of show states the inspiration to be “dancehall and reggae street-art culture,” which was evident: it comprised mainly mid-length A-line bubble hem dresses and floor-length gowns in a primary and black color palette combined with Rastafarian inspired prints, and the big thing was eyelets. Particularly cool were the black eyelet pants that revealed hints of blue, red, and yellow, which went perfectly with the color-block sandals all the models stomped in. The beauty look, which was natural makeup and slicked back wet-looking hair, not only went on trend with beauty looks from other shows we’ve seen this week, but it’s perfectly effortless for a reggae party—after all, the last thing you want to do while swaying to the beats on a hot Jamaican night is to worry about your hair.
