Amy Winehouse Statue Graces London

Even after three years, it’s still hard for us to believe that the world has been deprived of the immeasurable talent of the one and only Amy Winehouse. To further sanctify the soul icon’s memory, a statue was erected just yesterday on what would have been the singer’s 31st birthday in the streets of Camden, North London.

Created by Scott Eaton, the life-size bronze sculpture portrays the quintessential Amy look: fierce heels, a hand on her hip, a gargantuan beehive, and to top it all of a real red rose placed above her brow. Fans from across the world came to pay their respects at the ceremony to unveil the statue, but for those of us that couldn’t make it, it will be on display to the public indefinitely. It does very little to alleviate the shock and grief of losing Amy too soon, but it helps to know that she will now be eternally watchful in the streets of London that she loved so well during her life. #RIPAmy
