Gisele Suits Up for Chanel No. 5
Very few things are actual perfection, so when two of those rare birds come together, it’s worth mulling over. French fashion house Chanel recruited model/mom/Victoria’s Secret (and real life) Angel Gisele Bündchen to star in the latest Chanel No. 5 campaign.
A commercial for No. 5 seems unnecessary; at this point, little convincing is needed to add the iconic scent to your dresser. The clip acts as more of a celebration of the brand, with superstar director Baz Luhrmann behind the camera. The director, responsible for Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge, shows the day in the life of a No. 5 woman: She surfs (in a Chanel wetsuit), shows a child the power of a good spritz (of Chanel No. 5), and poses with wisdom beaming out of her eyes (in gold Chanel tweed, of course). A Chanel No. 5 woman looks unattainable but acts totally relatable–she’s you, but better.
With the full film being released tomorrow, Luhrmann, Bündchen, and Chanel’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld came together to celebrate. Last night’s dinner hosted Gigi Hadid, Lily Allen, Lily Aldrige, and a gaggle of other Chanel muses to preview the clip. As expected, guests were outfitted in the brand’s signature tweed.
Catch the full video, soundtracked by a hazy version of Grease‘s "You’re The One That I Want", tomorrow on Chanel’s website. In the meantime, prep your bottle of No. 5 if you’re looking for a bit more power in your walk. Sorry, but killer cheekbones and Bündchen’s perfect blonde waves not included.
