James Blunt is sorry for annoying us
Remember that song by James Blunt from 2005 that was played so much it made your ears bleed (and not from Ebola)? You might be surprised to know that ‘You’re Beautiful’ was even annoying to Blunt himself. He recently revealed in an interview with Hello! that he’s sorry the track was played so much. Blunt admits that he “was marketed by a record company to appeal to women during Desperate Housewives’ commercials.” But hey, he did get nominated for 5 Grammys and the song reached no. 1 in multiple countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, so it couldn’t have been that bad, right? Wrong. “[It] was force-fed down people’s throats," Blunt continues, "And it became annoying, and then people start to associate [me] with the same word."
The English artist also wants us to know that he doesn’t take himself as seriously as that infamous song portrays him to. He says, “The marketing also painted me out as an insanely serious person, an earnest person and, as all my friends know, I’m anything but.” We’ll take your word that the new record, Moon Landing, is less dramatic.
All in all, we forgive you, even though this apology took nearly a decade. We’re still beautiful, right?
