Chanel's Pre-Fall '15 Show Is A Lederhosen Dream
Karl Lagerfeld, the Kaiser of fashion, can’t stop won’t stop. Not only has he maintained Coco Chanel’s legacy but he’s also managed to become as iconic as the late French pioneer, making Chanel synonymous with all things perfect, the latest collection serving as proof of his artistry. Always one to break the mold, Lagerfeld presented Chanel’s pre-fall 2015 collection in Salzburg, Austria, showcasing the delicate craftsmanship in the Métiers d’Art collection that left everyone breathless.
With an all-star model cast that included Soo Joo Park, Stella Tennant, Jamie Bochert, and Lara Stone, the collection was exactly what you’d expect a sartorially smart yodeler’s closet to look like: namely, Chanel tweed meets couture lederhosen meets a pre-protestant papal jewelry collection. Basically it’s Heidi haute couture, and every single piece is an immediate classic, with immaculate confection and detailing.
Highlights include turning Victorian collars into modern staples, paired up with velvet necklaces, modern silhouettes, tweed jackets, and a drool-worthy calf-length leather coat with stripe and flower appliqués. The collection boasts a whopping number of 86 looks including some male and children apparel, as model Brad Kroenig walked down the runway holding hands with his too-adorable son Hudson…it’s hard to say who was more breathtaking really.
Naturally Lagerfeld’s muse Cara Delevingne was there, who not only walked the show but also closed it while holding hands with her friend and one of Chanel’s newest stars, Kendall Jenner. But the show wasn’t the only thing that shone – guests included Lily Allen, Rooney Mara, Caroline De Maigret, and Chanel’s new Prince Charming, Pharrell, all of which donned pieces from the fashion house.
The show was spectacular, which comes as no surprise but as a pleasant reminder that some people deserve their iconic status. Long live Kaiser Karl.
