Gucci Loses their Heads of State
As fashion houses around the world are reving up for the upcoming FW15 collections, Gucci will be facing a far bigger problem than what to run down the catwalk. Namely, they have to figure out who to run the company. In a huge double whammy, Gucci will be losing their creative director Frida Giannini and the company’s CEO Patrizio di Marco as early as January 1st.
Why all at once? No one really knows why they decided to leave, but the decision has already been made. Giannini and di Marco are a real life couple with children, which might account for their joint decision to leave together, but that doesn’t leave the company in any less of a hurdle. Giannini has been creative director of Gucci for an astounding ten years, a tenure that has seen the Gucci label transition into a wealth of new aesthetic directions and a revitalization of their brand.
There are only rumors of possible replacements for Giannini’s position, some names thrown around include Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci, and Joseph Altuzarra but di Marco’s replacement is anyone’s guess. Giannini has thankfully chosen to remain in her position until she has weathered through Gucci’s FW15 collection at Milan Fashion Week
