Jourdan Dunn Breaks Record with New Vogue Cover
Jourdan Dunn, aside from being one of the most fun, fab, and flawless models working today, has rung in the New Year with a gorgeous new cover for British Vogue. It is her first solo appearance for the cover of the magazine, but more importantly (and astoundingly) her cover appearance is the first time the magazine has featured a solo model of color in over a decade.
The last time Vogue cast a standalone model of color on their cover was back in 2003 for a cover featuring the one and only Naomi Campbell. Though Vogue has of course featured a wide array of models throughout their history, it is a simple fact that Campbell was the last non-Caucasian model to solely front an issue of the fashion bible until Dunn’s appearance on the upcoming February ‘15 issue. Ironically enough, Campbell and Dunn have just recently joined forces for Burberry’s new campaign, which features both models absolutely slaying in 60’s mod inspired realness.
But despite this drought in diversity, Dunn had nothing but pure elation to share on her landmark achievement. “I’M FINALLY ON THE COVER OF BRITISH VOGUE!!!” she wrote on Instagram, with the addition of our new favorite hashtag, #2015YearOfTheDunn. With this cover adding to her already stellar new Burberry campaign, we’re more than inclined to believe it.
