Mick Jagger Launches L'Wren Scott Scholarship

Last year, news of L’Wren Scott’s suicide shocked the fashion world. The fashion designer recognized for her runway success, stark black hair, and long-time relationship with Mick Jagger, is now being honored at Central Saint Martins, the constituent arts college of the University of the Arts London.

Ironically, L’Wren Scott never received a formal education in fashion, but upon meeting Louise Wilson, the late director of the school’s M.A. Fashion course L’Wrenn appeared to be dazzled by the curriculum. With that knowledge, Mick Jagger decided to set up a scholarship program for the next three years, granting one lucky incoming fashion design student per year full financial support.

Central Saint Martins, known for their rigorous M.A. program thrives on the dedication of their hardworking students, who eventually contribute to the global fashion industry. Some of their alumni include fashion innovators such as, John Galliano, Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen, and Alexander McQueen. Given the hard years of work ahead, the recipients of the scholarship can rest somewhat easy, as their financial burdens have been taken care of thanks to Uncle Mick!
