All-female ghostbusters cast announced

yeah, that explains it

Paul Feig, writer and director of Ghostbusters 3 announced on Twitter back in October that he’d been hired for the movie and that the cast would be all-female. Earlier this week, he made it known (also via Twitter) who the stars would be. The lucky ladies are: Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Wiig and McCarthy both starred in Bridesmaids, also directed by Paul Feig, and McKinnon and Jones are current SNL cast members.

If this doesn’t sound like a dream-team, you must be trippin’, because who doesn’t love a funny girl?! Oh yeah, those sexist twitter haters we have pictured to the left, to the left (juxtaposed with some nicer tweets). But aside from the bitter men tweeting about their childhoods being ruined by this casting decision, the responses are totally positive. Dan Aykroyd, one of the original Ghostbusters, told The Hollywood Reporter that "the Aykroyd family is delighted by this inheritance of the Ghostbusters torch by these most magnificent women in comedy.” Hell yeah!

Bill Murray, another original ‘buster, told the Toronto Star back in September when the possibility of an all-lady cast was just a rumor, that he was in favor of the idea and predicted that Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy would be among the chosen. Bill Murray obviously knows what’s up.

The film is set to come out on July 22, 2016.
