Jeremy Scott's Acid Nursery Rhyme
There are many words to describe Jeremy Scott’s FW15 show but if we had to choose one it would definitely be “insane.” To begin with, the front row read like a who’s who of celebrity and fashion royalty: A$AP Ferg, Tim Blanks, Michel Gaubert, Anthony Kieidis, the Beckerman Twins, Chiara Ferragni, Olivier Zahm, Suzy Menkes, Bill Cunningham, Nigel Barker, Sofia Richie, the Misshapes, and of course Kanye “Yeezus” West himself, who permanently floats around surrounded by a stampede of paparazzi and security. When the insanity in the front of the house ended, the insanity of Scott’s collection began.
The pieces were true to Scott fashion: colorful, referential, and conceptual. The models (which included Charlotte Free, Gigi Hadid, and River Viiperi) stomped down the runway to Sophie’s ‘Lemonade’ and a cover of ‘Jolene,’ decked in gear that was an acid-trip mishmash of Rugrats-esque prints, children’s attire from the 60s, inflated clown-like dresses, and nursery rhyme characters. The prints included a lot of ducks, teddy bears, and shard-like color blocking, while the headpieces included bonnets, sun hats, and the coolest night-time pajama beanie that reached the models lower back. Scott delivered Scott at his best, inviting us (as usual) to take a step back from seriousness and adulthood and enjoy the lighter side of life.
