Starting off with a clip of Obama’s inauguration, we’re shown images from 9/11, Ferguson protests, the civil rights movement, and montages of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s funeral service intercut with Beatlemania.
In a discussion with Billboard, the song’s co-writer, Sam Harris revealed that he was inspired by Bruce Springsteen’s 1984 ‘Born in the USA’ and intends to call the nation’s attention to political issues in a similar way.
