BAPE celebrates 10 yrs with Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, Kid Cudi & More
Everyone knows that the best part about birthdays are the celebrations, and for the 10 year anniversary of A BATHING APE, or BAPE’s SoHo store, the streetwear brand is going big – we mean way big.
The Japanese brand, founded in 1993, opened its doors to its famous NYC store a decade ago and in order to celebrate they’ve paired up with ten big time collaborators (one for every year!) to create limited edition pieces. So who exactly are these collaborators? None other than Big Sean, Travi$ Scott, Kid Cudi, Pusha T, cult clothing store RSVP Gallery, Wiz Khalifa, Flatbush ZOMBIES, Def Jam Records, and graffiti legends Stash and Futura 2000.
We know; it’s a lot to take in all at once.
The collaborators each have full control over the creation of their designs, although they all follow a similar layout model, creating a short-sleeved tee, a long sleeved one, and a version of BAPE’s classic shark full zip hoodie. The coolest part about the collaborations is getting to see the spin that each artist puts on their design, with Futura adding King Kong and the Empire State into the mix, while Pusha T uses Pyrex as his inspiration, and Wiz makes the ape resemble himself.
Aside from the collabs BAPE will also release a limited edition ten year collection, and all of the pieces will be available worldwide on May 2nd. So you better start saving some cash and getting in line – we’re sure these pieces will sell out before you can say “happy anniversary A BATHING APE.”
