Givenchy's New Ad Campaign Stars Donatella Versace

How often does an iconic brand like Givenchy use another fashion designer to star in their campaign? Pretty much never — unless it’s the legendary Italian godess Donatella Versace. This morning, Riccardo Tisci, the creative director of Givenchy, announced via instagram that none other than Donatella would be the face of their A/W 2015 campaign.

Styled by Carine Roitfeld and photographed by Mert & Marcus, the ad features a black and white photo of both Tisci and Versace standing beside each other and looking down.

Givenchy is certainly no rookie when it comes to pushing limits in their unorthodox ad campaigns. Over the past several years, Tisci has produced some of the most innovative ad campaigns. Specifically Givenchy has enlisted figures like performance artist Marina Abramovic, musician Erykah Badu and actress Julia Roberts —in addition to trans-gender model Lea T — to star in their ads.

The Versace Instagram account later posted: “For my talented friend Riccardo. Together we break fashion boundaries today!”— and they definitely did.
