Watch Kali Uchis' New Video 'Rush'
70’s dream visuals, off-yellows, funk-jazz melodies, rainbow prints. It’s a Rush alright.
Kali Uchis rocked the internet with the drop of Drunken Babble in 2013, which featured an intricate mix of laid back 90’s hip hop and 50’s jazz-soul styles and sounds. This earned her the interest of a large spectrum of artists, including Tyler, the Creator. She’s only gotten better since, and has been receiving a lot of well-deserved buzz surrounding the release of her debut studio album, Por Vida.
Collaborating with a large spectrum of notable creatives including Tyler, the Creator, BADBADNOTGOOD, Kaytranada, and Diplo, Uchis is rightfully receiving a rep of being immensely versatile— possessing an urban-crooning sound that is undeniably her own.
Uchis’ latest video, Rush, embodies the free-love era, playing up psychedelics pulses, faded off-tones, and dreamy vulgarity. She co-directed the video alongside New-York based photography duo WIISA and her multi-decade look, rules the screen.
It’s exciting to see artists like Kali Uchis taking to the internet and releasing free music. We’re down.
