Craig Green x Nick Knight Awe In New Campaign Vid
What do you get when you mix London menswear designer Craig Green and lauded fashion photographer and artist Nick Knight? If you’re picturing something amazing, erase that image out of your head – what they created is better. The talented duo, each a prodigy of their own medium, have teamed up to create a visual representation of Green’s F/W 15 collection and it is spectacular.
The short film features two models and a dancer, decked in flowy monochromatic bandage outfits in red and black, colliding in the empty space of a white background. The video is skillfully edited, featuring slow motion shots that not only add dramatism to the choreography but also help enhance the talented craft of the British designer who made the audience actually cry at his first solo show.
Knight, whose prolific portfolio features collaborations with everyone from Yohji Yamamoto to the late Alexander McQueen, stands out yet again in this video – and it’s evident that Green’s work inspires him greatly. “There’s a brilliant tension to Craig’s work…on one hand it’s so simple and pure, rooted in ideas of traditional masculine work wear, but on the other it’s so dynamic, so theatrical – full of energy and movement. That combination is what makes it so special to photograph,” says Knight. Green also admires his collaborator’s work, saying that “He really understood what we wanted to express and the energy of the fall/winter ’15 collection.”
The film will be projected on the windows of Dover Street Market for the duration of this weekend’s London menswear fashion shows, giving everyone who’s there the chance to drool over it again and again and again. Green’s S/S 16 show was this morning, and while we wait for the official photos to be released, we’ve been dying over the tidbits on social media, making us hope that this is only the beginning of the Green x Knight reign. All hail!
