Walter Jr Nails Vivienne Westwood SS16 Show
Breaking Bad fans rejoiced after a fresh dose of their fave breakfast loving duo last weekend. While Walter White was raging his heart out with ravers at EDC in Las Vegas, his on-screen son was taking bold steps in a new direction. On Sunday, RJ Mitte, aka Walter Jr., aka Flynn, made his runway debut walking for the Queen of Punk, Vivienne Westwood.
This isn’t Mitte’s first venture into the fashion world. After the hit series’ end back in 2013, he signed with Elite Models and quickly landed a Gap campaign alongside artists Theophilus London and Ernest Greene.
The actor was styled in one of Westwood’s signature breast prints (also seen on Cara Delevigne) and closed the show in a cool blazer-sweatpants ensemble emblematic of a young Richard Hell. His walk was confident, fierce and is sure to storm the runway again in future shows.
Mitte is one of the latest to join the new generation of models that are transforming the industry. In May, Hari Nef became the first trans woman to be signed by IMG Worldwide. Last year, Jillian Mercado, a wheelchair-bound fashion writer, became one of the faces of Diesel’s Spring 2014 campaign. Mitte, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 3 years old, is a welcome addition to the models who are challenging antiquated beauty standards.
It’s exciting to see Mitte’s modeling career blossom during such a progressive time in the industry. And who knows – maybe this actor-slash-model will even get a cameo in the highly anticipated Zoolander 2. Fingers crossed.
