Donate to This Indiegogo to End Greece's Financial Crisis
Hold on to your cash crowdfunders, there’s a pretty nifty cause to get behind. Instead of donating to make potato salad, or Pornhub’s space sex tape, why not do something like help bail out a country for the price of a cup of coffee? No, we’re serious. There is now an Indiegogo campaign asking for €1.6 billion to help Greece with it’s impending financial collapse.
Created by Thom Feeney, a British shoe shop worker, the campaign’s aim is to cut out the ‘posturing’ of politicians and just get the job done. He calculated that if the entire population of the EU, a little over 500 million people, gave €3.19 (about $3.50), the bailout could be complete. Feeney wrote on the campaign’s page, “All this dithering over Greece is getting boring. European ministers flexing their muscles and posturing over whether they can help the Greek people of not [sic]. Why don’t we the people just sort it instead?”
Contributions to the bailout also have their own prize levels. For €3, you get a postcard of Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, sent from Greece, €6 gets you a feta and olive salad, at €10 and €25 you can get vouchers for Ouzo and Greek wine. All of the pledge gifts will be sourced and shipped from Greece in order to employ Greek workers and stimulate their economy. We’re totally behind the idea and pray for the campaign to reach its lofty goal by Tuesday, July 7th. The crowdfund has already reached over €1,000,000 with over 60,000 contributors. And who doesn’t want a nice bottle of Ouzo? Come on everyone, let’s save Greece!
