Chanel's Latest Couture Show Hits The Jackpot
If anyone knows how to spice up a runway, it’s Karl Lagerfeld. In the past few years alone, the Chanel frontman has managed to turn Paris’ Grand Palais into a glamorous supermarket, a feminist street protest and a fantastical art gallery. But this year, Lagerfeld brought Vegas to Paris in his AW Couture show and transformed the runway into a full-blown Casino, stacked with working slot machines and poker tables.
Previewing Chanel’s Haute Couture collection, which featured a plethora of power suits, sequined gowns and lacy ensembles, were models Kendall Jenner and Binx Walton among many others. The leggy ladies were homogeneously decked out in edgy black bobs, dark bushy brows, bright peach blush and rosy red lips — a Chanel signature.
While the models strutted around the casino, actors Jemima Kirke, Kristen Stewart, Julianne Moore and Lily Collins sat around playing craps. Also spotted at the event were Rita Ora, Lara Stone and Vanessa Paradis alongside her ultra chic it-girl daughter Lily-Rose Depp.
With Europe’s economy playing a game of Russian roulette, it’s no surprise that Karl Lagerfeld set up his own gambling gala. Though we may not know Greece’s fate, we do know that Karl’s Couture certainly hit the jackpot.
