Mac Demarco Releases 'Some Other Ones' at BBQ in Brooklyn

Canadian bro babe Mac Demarco gave us life with the album Salad Days last year and has kept the tunes coming. With the summer in full swing, we’ve been missing the head bobby, slacker rock sounds, until yesterday. The wavy singer-songwriter threw a BBQ for his fans, giving them a little taste of his recent work with a mini instrument record Some Other Ones. While his full fourth studio album, Another One, won’t be released until August 7, you can still listen to Some Other Ones on Bandcamp.

The tracks stay short and sweet with nothing over three minutes long, but songs like ‘Onion Man’ and ‘Hoso Boyo’ are just the right kind of beach rock to keep us grooving. The short 9-track LP really is the cookout soundtrack we’ll be listening to all summer. It makes sense that Mac showed the work in his own DIY way, bumping the tunes from his car speakers at a Bushwick cookout and writing on Instagram, ‘Bring a food bank donation and I will#makeyouafuckinghotdog. [sic].’

Getting a taste of what Mac Demarco has been working on is cool, but finding a way to give back with your craft? That’s the best. And who wouldn’t want to hang with the Mac man himself for a little #chillngrill? Let the summer daze begin!
