About Last Night: MADE + THE EIGHTH + Travi$ Scott = K.O.
The best part about NYC parties is the ability to really wow, and last night’s party, thrown by MADE and THE EIGHTH to celebrate Men’s Fashion Week, is definitely one to write home about. Held in the historic Church Street Boxing Gym downtown, the space (which usually serves as a boxing training arena, with walls filled to the brim with inspirational imagery, including a sick mural of Muhammad Ali) was transformed into an underground summer rager.
At the beginning of the night, the crowd was treated to an incredibly theatrical lucha libre fight, during which the masked luchadores (who were decked in THE EIGHTH gear) showed off their moves to the hoots and cheers of onlookers. When the fight ended the winning wrestler picked up a bottle of Don Julio tequila from one of the guests and started chugging it from the corner of the ring while a medley of champion themed songs (including Queen’s ‘We are the Champions’ and Kanye West’s ‘Champion’) played.
Once the match was over, the crowd (which included Scout Willis, Chelsea Leyland, Harif Guzman, JZ Radical, and Astrid Andersen) started dancing to an ill playlist of all our favorite hip-hop classics, like Rihanna, Ye, and even Soulja Boy. Since the venue was so hot, it was not surprising to see people start peeling off layers of clothing items while trying to freshen up with the margaritas and Bud Light beers that were being served. Of course the real treat of the night was Travi$ Scott’s performance, who moved around the ring like a modern day version of Cassius Clay before splashing the crowd with hordes of beer while singing hits like ‘Drugs You Should Try.’ One thing’s for sure – it was definitely a knock out.
