Asia really doesn't want you to watch porn

While the US porn industry attempts to follow in the steps of Neil Armstrong, Asian erotica is taking giant leaps backwards. On Thursday, China’s anti-porn office announced its latest crusade to ban all amateur sex flicks on social media.

China is no stranger to censorship, whether it’s swear words online or dirty pictures, the Chinese government seems hell-bent on turning the Internet into a G-rated movie. The Asian powerhouse has had a complete ban on all online pornography since 2002; which has forced horny web-users to get creative on social media by posting their own pornos on Weibo (the Chinese Twitter).

Last month, a sex video filmed in a dressing room inside of a Beijing Uniqlo, went viral and caught the attention of The Office Against Pornography and Illegal Publications, which sparked this push for more censorship. Four people were detained for the homemade porno and the authorities are still looking into it. The ‘perpetrators’ should have used their boobs to fight off the cops.

This comes only days after the Indian government blocked over 800 porn sites overnight, although India enjoys far laxer pornography restrictions than China. Kamlesh Vaswani, a lawyer and anti-porn activist, started the passionate battle to limit X-rated media online.

“It’s worse than Hitler, worse than AIDS, cancer or any other epidemic,” Vaswani told the New York Times. “It is more catastrophic than nuclear holocaust, and it must be stopped.”

The lawyer failed to convince the Indian Supreme Court that porn is really all that bad. So he passed along the long list of websites he wanted blocked to other government agents and was able to get it done. Anti-censorship activists were furious at the sudden blockage and have begun rallying against it, but the sites remain banned. Looks like they’re going to have to follow China’s example and get creative with their smartphones inside of a retail store. wink wink.
