Antonio Banderas Is A Fashion Student At Central St. Martins
In today’s WTF news, Zorro is coming to fashion school. Antonio Banderas has enrolled in Central Saint Martins, the elite institution that counts Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs amongst its alumni. We presume he’ll be cutting fabric with swords, and he’ll definitely fit in amongst angsty art students whilst wearing black capes and gaucho pants — very Galliano.
Banderas posted a photo of himself on Instagram with some headless mannequins. After all, Zorro has never lost a fight. “Second week of studies at Central Saint Martins begins,” he wrote. “Intense, exciting, serious and fun all at the same time.”
Banderas spoke about his new career path on the British talk show Loose Women. “Central Saint Martins is probably one of the best schools in the world,” he said. “It makes me feel actually very young to put the elbows on the table again and try to understand another reality. Of course, I won’t stop my professional life. I’ll continue acting, directing, but this is a new thing.” Just call Banderas Melanie Griffith, because Antonio is going to be working, girl.
In all seriousness, we’re very excited to see what Puss in Boots comes up with. Banderas is a longtime collaborator of the great Pedro Almodóvar, whose films frequently feature fantastic, colorful costumes (remember Penélope Cruz’s fab cleavage in Volver?). Imagine an Almodóvar film starring Banderas, featuring outfits he made himself! Consider us first in line.
