Alexander Wang Turns 10 in Style with The Weeknd, Kate Moss + More
Somehow, Alexander Wang has been around for 10 years. To celebrate this milestone anniversary, Wang recruited a slew of celebrity models – from actual model Cara Delevingne to bedroom crooner The Weeknd – to show off a duo of pieces he created for the charity Do Something. The Wang designed t-shirt and hoodie are for sale – for $45 and $85 respectively – and the proceeds go directly to Do Something, an organization that connects young people with opportunities to do community service.
In addition to the 38 celebrity portraits in Do Something garb, Wang also rereleased 10 archival pieces that were voted for on social media. Spanning from a Fall 2009 moto jacket to Spring 2010’s leather lace-up shorts, the chosen archival releases sum up the Wang look that we’ve come to know and love.
Ten years ago, Wang just getting started in fashion. He was only 21, and fresh out of Parsons. In the intervening years, the edgy fashion mainstay has been dubbed the “most successful designer of his generation” by the New York Times. The now impossible-to-avoid “model off duty” look was created by Wang, with his signature mix of slouchy sexiness and downtown inspiration.
So shout out to Alexander Wang. It’s been a great ten years. We’re sure the next ten will be just as star studded.
Check out Do Something if you want to volunteer!
