Costello Tagliapietra Afterthoughts
There was plenty of positive energy to go around at the latest Costello Tagliapietra show. Strutting to a soundtrack courtesy of The Misshapes, the models paraded on the runway with turquoise nail polish and pastel hues. But in spite of the flawless presentation, Robert Tagliapietra (one half of the design duo) is forthright about his pre-show anxiety: “My nerves go crazy the night before and my chest becomes as big as my belly,” laughed the designer.
Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra had a pretty routine morning before arriving to Milk at 11am. “Our dog Sam is our bratty, bratty son,” they joked. “He’s like a perpetual two-year-old spoiled toddler stuck in a nine-year-old body. He’s always touching things he shouldn’t be touching!” And if they’re not dealing with Sam, they’re thinking about food: “It’s always been all about food for us,” Costello said with a wink. “We’re loving Seersucker’s awesome, incredible fried chicken Tuesdays. They only make that chicken special on Tuesday. Maybe it’s organically fried or something.”
