The Blogger Files: Street Peeper
Spotlighting some of our favorite names from the fashion blogosphere and their insider take on New York Fashion Week. Here, we feature Phil Oh from Street Peeper.
FROM: Born in Chicago, live in Brooklyn
BEST FASHION WEEK ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED: "No one’s paying attention to you anyway, Phil." When I would get self-conscious about something or another. Sounds harsh, but actually quite useful advice.
FAVORITE FASHION WEEK MEMORY: The time at Paris Fashion Week when Rhianna shoved me…
MOST EMBARRASSING FASHION WEEK MEMORY: I dunno, really there are just too many to count.
BEST FASHION WEEK SURVIVAL TIP: EAT.
BEST FASHION WEEK HANGOVER CURE: Call in sick. Back to bed.
FASHION WEEK ACCESSORY DU JOUR: My new red knit fingerless mittens. I got them at the one-and-only time I’ll probably ever set foot in REI. How else to keep my hands warm while snapping pictures?
IDEAL NYFW PARTY SCENARIO: A DJ hired for their record collection and mixing abilities rather than their "it" status. Everything else is negotiable.
FAVORITE NY RESTAURANT: Eleven Madison Park for a three-hour lunch. Xi’an Famous Foods for quick and cheap.
FAVORITE NY WATERING HOLE: I like Nights & Weekends and No Name Bar in Greenpoint.
FAVORITE SHOPPING HAUNT: I can always find something I want at Opening Ceremony, but I also like 10 Ft. Single by Stella Dallas — a kinda awesome and reasonably priced vintage store in Williamsburg.
WORST THING ABOUT NY DURING FASHION WEEK: Finding time for a real meal.
FAVORITE NYFW SNACK ON THE GO: You know, the new Beefy Crunch Burrito at Taco Bell is actually kinda good/gross/good. It’s the one stuffed with Flamin’ Hot Fritos…
NY NEIGHBORHOOD WITH THE BEST STREET STYLE: I guess SoHo, but I also like West Chelsea around where a lot of the galleries are.
TOP THREE INDUSTRY INFLUENCERS: Oh no, can I please skip this one?
MOST ANTICIPATED SHOW AT MADE FASHION WEEK THIS SEASON: I’m most looking forward to Suno.
WHAT ARE YOU WEARING RIGHT NOW: Now now? Pajamas… But if you mean earlier today, I had on a blue Wooyoungmi coat over a Peter Jensen sweater and a Uniqlo Heattech t-shirt, Acne jeans, Happy Socks, and some old and busted Yohji Yamamoto high-tops.
