Peter Som referenced his early days as a designer for his fall 2012 collection, describing the looks as a return to the architectural.
I think I was going back to my younger self a little bit with the shape of the clothing in this collection, to a more tailored, structured feel," Som said. "I also referenced Katharine Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich for a masculine meets feminine look."
Such a fluid juxtaposition was realized through Som’s separates like wing-tip collared tuxedo shirts in silk crepe, bomber jackets with hyper-feminine peplums, jodhpurs with satin accents. Men’s-wear classics were paired with sheer skirts and lingerie-inspired dresses.
Som’s autumn color palette included shades of camel, ivory, black, emerald green, and burgundy. His woman also takes her fur in these sharp hues. One fox fur coat featured a surreal acid colored patchwork.
