A Conversation on Mental Health: How Not To Get Fucked By The Music Industry
Tuesday night, the Milk JamRoom paid witness to a very special evening panel on one topic we simply can’t get enough of: mental health. Talking specifically about this subject in the music industry, Treble and Wishart hosted a four-person panel on the topic, which covered everything from approaching mental health in the workplace, coping mechanisms, and the pressure to share that social media often presents. Seated on the panel was Eric Weiner, founder of The Wild Honey Pie, Vick Kelsey, Senior Manager of Rights & Clearances at Vice Media, musician Cameron Flowers, and of course Michael Angelakos, lead singer of Passion Pit and founder of Wishart.
For over a year now, Treble has hosted a weekly jam called Treble Tuesdays, bringing together some of the music industry’s best and brightest for parties and get togethers all across the city. “How Not To Get F*cked” represents a super exciting change of pace for Treble Tuesdays as they dive into more serious matters affecting the music industry landscape. Together with Wishart, a non-profit dedicated to the mental, physical, and creative well-being of artists, last night’s panel made space for much needed dialogue around the subject of mental health. With moderators Ilana Kaplan and David Haggerty running the show, and an after hours jam sesh hosted by OmgCornelia (with sounds by BSTN), this was one night we couldn’t miss.
If you didn’t make it, not to worry—we’ve got a full visual recap in the gallery above. Take a look and stay tuned for the next Treble Tuesdays event.
