An Elegant Kristen Stewart Stars in Chanel's Latest Campaign
Kristen Stewart, one of Karl Lagerfeld’s many muses, is the face of Chanel’s “Paris in Rome” Métiers d’Art collection, starring in a campaign for Chanel’s pre-fall 2016 collection that was shot by Karl himself.
The photos continue the French/Italian theme of Métiers d’Art show, showing K-Stew as an Italian actress casually hanging out in her Paris apartment. What a tasty combo. Although the pre-fall looks—which include a high-slit skirt, lace tights, and an off-the-shoulder sweater dress—are vastly different from Stewart’s own casual personal style, couture is nothing new to the actress.
“Karl never turns me into something I’m not,” she said to WWD. “But like all good directors, he’s capable of bringing qualities out of people that are not sometimes as obvious to them.”
He’s brought out Stewart’s high-fashion side before—“Paris in Rome” is her fifth campaign with Chanel and is reminiscent of Once and Forever, the super-meta short film about a Coco Chanel biopic that K-Lag directed and K-Stew starred in as a “really, really mean” actress.
The two are an unexpected dream pair. Lagerfeld also told WWD that Stewart’s image “is perfect for the Chanel image of today.” The full campaign will make its print debut in June.
