Are Copper Cabs The New Uber?
The simple answer is: no, they are not. But why then were the fashion elite spotted riding dirty in a mysterious (and massive) copper cab during NYFW? The 1949 Cadillac Fleetwood 75, which had been wrapped in a new glossy getup, knew how to make quite the entrance while driving by Skylight Clarkson Square, where a great majority of the fashion shows took place. Professional photographers, bloggers, and cool kids alike were clamoring to take a picture in front of the shiny exterior, not totally sure why our Editorial Director was gallivanting around with the likes of Swedish blogger Shelley Mulshine, Instagram it-boy Ezra J. Williams, designer Mery Racauchi, and Refinery29 Editor Alyssa Coscarelli.
Truth be told, Absolut Elyx pimped out this ride to make transportation both fun and easy during one of the city’s busiest weeks. How anyone can stay looking chic as hell in September’s miserable heat WITHOUT an over-the-top cab (with serious air conditioning) is beyond us. Also, a luxury, Single Estate Absolut Elyx cocktail here and there doesn’t exactly hurt when it comes from dealing with the ~traumatizing~ stress of seeing and being seen. And because Absolut uses a unique copper distillation process, you know these cocktails are extra fleeky (#CopperMakesItBetter, after all). Take a peek at our gallery below to get a feel for what it’s like to drive around being extra AF.
